How Is an Invisalign® Plan Made? Learn About the Process

Did you know that more than half of Americans feel insecure about their teeth? Unfortunately, most individuals are not born with perfectly aligned, pearly white teeth. In fact, according to Scientific American, nine out of every 10 people have teeth that are at least slightly misaligned, (malocclusion). One solution to minimize these numbers and help to ensure Americans feel confident when it comes to their smile is Invisalign®. At Midtown Dental Care in Manhattan NYC, we encourage patients to consider Invisalign® as a dental intervention that can promote dental alignment.

What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a newer dental intervention that did not go public until 2001. Though it is only approximately two decades old, it has grown in popularity as a solution to an array of dental issues. Nowadays, millions of dental patients opt for these transparent, plastic aligners. After all, Invisalign® aligners work to slowly but efficiently shift the teeth in an inconspicuous way.

What You Need To Know About Invisalign®

While Invisalign® is a relatively low maintenance dental intervention, it does require some work from its user. The following outlines what you must know before starting to use Invisalign: ď»ż

You must wear the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day.

Patients must brush their teeth after eating each meal prior to putting their aligners back in.

A new set of aligners will be sent to you every 1-2 weeks. Each set of aligners will shift the patient’s teeth closer and closer to a perfectly aligned smile.
