Are you looking for a dental intervention that can help to properly align your teeth? Once you have come to the decision that you need professional dental services to properly align your teeth, you have another decision to make: braces or Invisalign? While both services function to properly align a patient's teeth over the span of months or years, one option may be better than the other. At Midtown Dental Care, we believe Invisalign is the best way for patients to align their teeth.
Invisalign is essentially a clear set of plastic aligners created using a mold of the patient’s teeth. Every 1-2 weeks a patient will receive a new set of aligners from the Invisalign lab. Each new set will be a little different than the last, shifting your teeth over in small increments. This helps to ensure that the patient feels minimal soreness over the course of the treatment. A patient must wear these aligners for 22 hours a day, except during meals. After meals, they are expected to brush their teeth before putting the aligners in.
Braces consist of metal wires and brackets that are cemented to a patient’s teeth. Every so often, a patient will visit their dentist, and he/she will tighten the wires. This method will shift the teeth until they are properly aligned. Occasionally, rubber bands are also necessary. However, with this method, there are various implications a patient has to face.
Invisalign and braces are two popular methods for aligning the teeth. However, at Midtown Dental Care, we believe that Invisalign is the best dental intervention for aligning teeth. Consider the following notable features if you are having trouble making a decision, or need more information:
Advantages of Invisalign
It is transparent, which means it does not attract any unwanted attention.
They are very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.
You can put it in and take it out when you want. This means no food is getting stuck in between your teeth, the way it does with braces.
They do not require frequent visits to the dentist because you receive your new aligners in the mail.
They build overall confidence because your teeth inconspicuously seem to shift into alignment.
Disadvantages of Braces
They are not transparent. They do attract attention, and they are noticeable.
Braces require more frequent dental visits.
It is tougher to brush your teeth with metal wires and brackets on them.
They are semi-permanent. They cannot be removed when brushing your teeth, the way Invisalign can. Instead, you must continue your daily functions with them on at all times.
They can cause orthodontitis, which only occurs when people wear braces.

Midtown Dental Care is an avid member of both the dental community, and the New York community. That is we are proud to mention that we have ties to the following associations/organizations:
According to the American Dental Association standards, every individual should visit the dentist once every six months, or twice annually. This begins when a child has their first tooth, and lasts for their entire lifetime. It is very important to attend these appointments to ensure good dental health and minimize the chances of larger dental problems later.
Each and every patient is different with a unique case. This means that, for some patients, Invisalign is the best choice. For other more complex cases, traditional braces may be the most effective dental solution. In order to find out whether traditional braces or Invisalign is best for you, give the professionals at Midtown Dental Care a call. We can discuss with you the advantages and disadvantages of each option, so you can feel confident in your choice.
Cosmetic dental services work to improve the physical appearance of a patient’s smile. A patient’s smile can be enhanced with the following services:
The benefits of cosmetic dental services are vast. These services make a patient’s smile more appealing, which can then help to boost confidence and self-esteem.
