Did you know that
approximately 10 million people have used Invisalign to help align their teeth? While traditional braces are another popular option, many individuals continue to shift to using Invisalign instead. At Midtown Dental Care, we believe that Invisalign does a phenomenal job shifting patients teeth in a quick, efficient, and inconspicuous way.
Invisalign is essentially a set of two clear, plastic aligners that help to shift a patient's teeth slowly over time. The aligners are created based on a mold that is taken of the patient’s teeth. Every one to two weeks, the patient will receive a new, different set of aligners. With each new set, the teeth should move little by little towards becoming more aligned. The patient is expected to wear these aligners approximately 22 hours a day, with the exception of during meals.
While Invisalign is an effective way to align a patient’s teeth, not every individual is a candidate for it. Midtown Dental Care has had great success treating the following dental issues using Invisalign:
Underbite
Overbite
Crossbite
Minor misalignment issues
When Invisalign is used as a solution for a dental issue, such as misalignment, the patient can reap a number of benefits. This is especially true when comparing the use of Invisalign versus the use of traditional braces. While both methods are effective in treating similar issues, Invisalign exhibits the following characteristics that traditional braces do not:
It’s inconspicuous. Invisalign is clear, which means that it will not attract any attention. This is a notable benefit to individuals who are unsure whether they should choose Invisalign or traditional braces, since the brackets, metal wires, and rubber bands utilized when a patient chooses braces are very noticeable.
It is not convenient. While traditional braces are adhered to a patient’s mouth until he/she’s teeth are aligned and only then can they can be removed, Invisalign can be taken out and put back in at any time.
It is easier to clean. Since Invisalign is removable, patients can remove the plastic trays when brushing their teeth. This makes it easy to brush and floss your teeth, and to clean the aligners themselves!
At Midtown Dental Care, we recommend Invisalign to patients with misalignment dental issues on a daily basis. When a patient comes in considering Invisalign, we will typically sit down with that individual and talk about whether or not they are a proper candidate. We also take the time to answer any questions or concerns our patients have. We strive to ensure that no matter what dental service our patients opt for, they feel comfortable and confident in their decision, and in our care. Midtown Dental Care is an avid member of both the dental community, and the New York community. That is we are proud to mention that we have ties to the following associations/organizations:
According to the American Dental Association standards, every individual should visit the dentist once every six months, or twice annually. This begins when a child has their first tooth, and lasts for their entire lifetime. It is very important to attend these appointments to ensure good dental health and minimize the chances of larger dental problems later.
Each and every patient is different with a unique case. This means that, for some patients, Invisalign is the best choice. For other more complex cases, traditional braces may be the most effective dental solution. In order to find out whether traditional braces or Invisalign is best for you, give the professionals at Midtown Dental Care a call. We can discuss with you the advantages and disadvantages of each option, so you can feel confident in your choice.

The benefits of cosmetic dental services are vast. These services make a patient’s smile more appealing, which can then help to boost confidence and self-esteem.
